Get ready—this is big. Here’s the skinny. There’s a swing dance in Peekskill, and it’s all happening at Embark on Saturday, November 8. What’s on the menu? Dig.
7-8 p.m.: NYC dance maestro Bill Kline gives a free lesson in basic swing/lindy hop for everyone at the party—no partner needed. Or bring a friend, a sweetie, a wandering cadet, or a brand-new pal.
8 p.m. to midnight: Dance your head off. The music’s amazing. The dance will make you grin, bounce, shake your moneymaker, and maybe even sing. (It’s damn good exercise, incidentally.)
All night: Eat light refreshments. Drink a little something. Chat up your cadet. Get your mom to tell you stories about sock hops and Nat King Cole. Swing and sway, jump and jive, hoot and holler. You’re going to want to. And you will.
$15 cover. $10 for students. Embark is at 925 South Street in downtown Peekskill. Click here for a Google Map. Click here to get inspired. (Don’t worry, no one will be throwing anyone. Thrilling, yeas, but not throwing.) Click your ruby heels on the two and the four. See you on the dance floor!
